Business Sector International Community
GMW Advocaten (established in 1989) is one of the leading law firms for the International Community. Our lawyers advise, mediate and litigate on behalf of both international private and corporate clients. Many of our lawyers have additional degrees and in-depth expertise in certain legal fields, allowing them to work together in practice groups, in bigger cases implying more than one aspect of law.
GMW Advocaten closely work together with a network of established tax, banking and auditing experts, as well as notaries and law firms based abroad.
Combining their knowledge of Dutch law and jurisprudence and international legal aspects, GMW Advocaten was the first to reach out to the international community in The Netherlands, by founding the Legal Expat Desk.
Covering many aspects of Dutch private law of interest to the general public, the lawyers at GMW Advocaten regularly publish articles in the expat media of the Randstad. (Browse the archives of The Hague Online and Access-nl, introducing GMW into their search engines). We have been contributors to The Xpat Journal since 2006, and we have edited the 2008/2009 and 2010/2011 editions of the Holland Handbook, both published by the Xpat Media.
Some of GMW Advocaten’s international lawyers provide seminars on certain legal topics at the headquarters of international organisations based in The Hague. (Shell / Outpost, Leiden University/The Hague Campus, etc). One of the partners and Dutch employment law specialist, Godelijn Boonman, has been on the Women’s Business Initiative International (WBII) Advisory Board since the beginning in 2005, helping promote and facilitate job opportunities for Dutch and expat women entrepreneurs.
GMW Advocaten are sponsors of the biggest expat event in The Hague, the yearly Feel at Home in The Hague Fair, and participate in The Hague Guest Card, offering legal advice at preferential rates to its members.
